25K Companion

The B&W Companion 25K is the heavier-duty version of their popular 20K model. Same puck-mount design that drops into Ford factory holes, but rated for 25,000 pounds of trailer weight and 6,250 pounds of pin weight. If your fifth wheel is on the bigger side or you just want extra capacity for peace of mind, this is the step up.

Installation works exactly like the 20K. Your Ford Super Duty came with four pucks in the bed - they are under those plastic caps. Pop the caps off, set the hitch base into the holes, turn the handles to lock it down. Then drop the head on top and pin it in place. Maybe an hour of work if you have never done it before. When you want your bed back, reverse the process and lift it out.

The head pivots in all directions so you do not have to line up perfectly when hooking up, and the trailer can move naturally without binding. B&W uses one-inch thick steel jaws that wrap completely around the kingpin - no half-measures. The polyurethane bushings between the moving parts eliminate that metal-on-metal clanking you hear from lesser hitches.

Three height settings let you level your trailer properly. This matters more than most people realize - a level trailer tracks better, brakes better, and puts less stress on the hitch and frame. The adjustment range covers most fifth wheel and truck combinations.
