Expert Take

Curt's 30K PowerRide is a heavy-duty puck-mount fifth wheel that drops into your factory bed holes with no rails or drilling. It's a fixed head built for big fivers, with solid capability for the money, though it doesn't cushion chucking like a premium air-ride or B&W setup.

About This Product

The CURT PowerRide 30K is the most powerful puck-mounted hitch you can buy for a Ford Super Duty. Thirty thousand pounds of towing capacity and 7,500 pounds of pin weight - that is five thousand more than most hitches in this category. If you have one of those massive fifth wheels with four slides and a king-size bed, this is the hitch that will not make you nervous.

It drops into the factory pucks Ford installed in your bed. Same deal as other puck hitches - no drilling, no welding, no rails taking up space. Quarter-turn anchors lock it down tight. The whole install takes a couple hours with basic hand tools, and you can break it down into two pieces for storage when you are not towing.

CURT did some smart things with this design. The handle self-resets after you unhitch, so you do not have to remember to prep it before your next hookup. There is a color-coded indicator that shows green when you are locked in properly - you can see it from outside the truck. The head tilts in every direction, not just front to back, which smooths out the ride and reduces the stress on your truck frame.

The jaws interlock and wrap completely around the kingpin. Combined with the built-in wear plates, you get a tight connection without having to grease anything. When the wear plates eventually need replacing, you will know - they are designed to show wear visually.

This is the fixed version for 8-foot beds. If you have a short bed, you need a slider instead. CURT builds these with cast steel and tests them to SAE J2638 specs. Limited lifetime warranty on the body.
