weight pushing down on your truck
The CURT A16 is the entry point to their A-series line. Sixteen thousand pounds of towing capacity handles most mid-size fifth wheels. Same puck-mount design and quarter-turn installation as the bigger models, same poly-torsion head technology for quieter towing. You just get a lower weight rating and a lower price.
Installation is identical to the rest of the A-series. Ford pucks in the bed, drop the legs in, quarter turn to lock. The variable-position anchors let you dial out any play so the hitch sits tight with no rattling. Most people can do this themselves in a couple hours without any special tools or skills.
The articulating head moves freely in all directions and the interlocking jaws grip the kingpin solid. Self-resetting handle saves you a step on every hookup. Three-position coupling indicator visible from outside the truck. Lube plate included so you do not have to deal with grease.
Sixteen thousand pounds is plenty for a lot of fifth wheels on the road. If you know your trailer weight is well under this limit, there is no reason to pay for capacity you will never use. But if you are close to the limit or think you might upgrade trailers later, consider stepping up to the 20K or 24K.
For Ford Super Duty trucks with 8-foot beds and factory pucks. Short beds need a slider. SAE J2638 certified with limited lifetime warranty.
