About This Product
The Gen-Y Executive replaces your fifth wheel's pin box with a gooseneck coupler, so the trailer tows off a 2-5/16" ball and the truck bed is free when you're not towing — no fifth wheel hitch to buy, install, or wrestle out of the bed.
Cushioning comes from Gen-Y's patented Torsion-Flex design, which uses rubber torsion cords as a built-in suspension. Gen-Y advertises up to a 90% smoother ride and notes a break-in period of roughly 1,000 miles. Gen-Y states all its products are tested to exceed SAE J2638 requirements.
Choosing a version: Gen-Y sells the Executive by your trailer's pin box frame (LCI Rhino Box; Lippert 1621, 1621HD, 1116 or 1716; or LCI Turning Point) and by trailer GVWR: 7,275–16,360 lb with a 4,500 lb tongue weight rating, or 16,365–25,450 lb with 6,500 lb. Every current version has the SnapLatch auto-latching coupler. This part number, GH-8056AL, is the LCI Rhino Box version for trailers up to 16,360 lb GVWR. The earlier 21K versions and the manual-latch 30K (GH-8045, GH-8045AL, GH-8055) are no longer sold.
Lippert 1116 and 1716 frames need Gen-Y's add-on shim plates; the Rhino Box version doesn't. It works with a recessed gooseneck ball as long as the top of the ball sits within 1" of the bed floor.
