Shocker Hitch
Shocker Quick Air 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Pin Box — Lippert 1621/0719/Rhino (needs Shocker air hitch)
The odd one out in this category: Shocker puts the air ride in the truck-side hitch, not the pin box. On its own this is a plain steel gooseneck conversion — the cushioning only exists if you also run Shocker's gooseneck air hitch.

About This Product
Shocker's Quick Air setup converts a fifth wheel to a gooseneck connection, but it splits the job across two parts, which is what makes it different from every other pin box in this category.
The pin box alone does not cushion anything. It's a steel replacement pin box with a gooseneck coupler, listed around $650-$700. The air ride — the thing you'd actually buy Shocker for — lives in the truck-side Shocker Gooseneck Surge air hitch. Buy them together as the conversion kit (roughly $1,700-$2,045 depending on bolt pattern and whether you add the chain kit) and the system is rated 24,000 lb gross trailer weight and 6,000 lb tongue weight, the highest tongue weight rating in this group.
Every other brand here — Reese, CURT, Gen-Y, MORryde, B&W — puts the suspension inside the pin box itself and works with any properly rated 2-5/16" gooseneck ball. Shocker's does not, so compare total system cost, not pin box against pin box.
Air pressure is set by feel rather than by a chart: start around 15 psi, test drive, then go up in 5 psi steps. Typical range is 15-25 psi. Ride height adjusts via a set bolt and a 3/4" safety through-pin on the down tube. Note the kit does not include pin box bolts — you reuse the existing ones. Safety chains are required for gooseneck towing and are a separate option.

Reese Goose Box (Gen 3) 20K — Air-Ride Fifth-Wheel-to-Gooseneck
The Gen 3 Goose Box (20K) swaps your trailer's pin box for an air-ride gooseneck coupler, freeing up the truck bed entirely. The air cushion smooths the ride and cuts chucking, making it the standout pin-box conversion if you'd rather pull a fiver off a gooseneck ball.

The Shocker Quick Air 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Pin Box — Lippert 1621/0719/Rhino (needs Shocker air hitch) is rated for 24,000 lbs gross trailer weight (GTW) and 6,000 lbs vertical trailer weight (VTW — the pin weight your truck carries). Always verify your truck's tow rating before purchasing.
This hitch is considered DIY-friendly — most owners can install it with basic tools.
The 22.5K Goose Box replaces your fifth wheel's pin box so the trailer rides on a gooseneck ball with built-in air suspension. It's the cleanest way to convert to gooseneck and the air bag soaks up chucking far better than a rigid coupler, all with no head taking up bed space.
