Curt E16 Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch (16K, short bed)
CURT's economical 16K slider for short beds: the E16 head on CURT's S20 slider, which moves the coupling point back 12 inches and latches itself in both directions, so you only get out of the truck once. It replaces the discontinued 16516.

Expert Take
A 16K E-Series sliding fifth wheel for short beds, mounting to standard rails, with a slide-bar jaw and a manual slide for cab clearance. It's the budget short-bed option, capable but noisier and less articulating than the A-Series slider.
About This Product
The 16511 is CURT's E16 fifth wheel head mounted on its S20 slider, sold as one kit for short-bed trucks with standard base rails. It replaces the 16516, which CURT has discontinued. It's rated for 16,000 lb gross trailer weight and 4,000 lb vertical load.
The slider is the point of this one. A lift-style lever you can reach over the bed side lets the coupling point move 12 inches toward the tailgate, so the trailer clears the cab in tight turns, and it latches automatically in both directions. CURT says the slider is built not to chuck in the towing position and to roll forward and back without binding.
The E16 head pivots on two axes with 10 degrees of side-to-side movement, locks automatically when you couple, runs off a single handle and has an anti-rattle skid plate. Four height positions, carbide powder coat, tested to SAE J2638, limited lifetime warranty (one year on finish and parts). Not compatible with CURT's X5 adapters.

The Curt E16 Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch (16K, short bed) has a sliding head. For tight, low-speed turns the head moves back toward the tailgate, which moves the pivot point of the trailer away from the cab. That extra clearance is what short-bed trucks need.
This is the 20K Companion configured for industry-standard rails, so it needs rails already bolted in the bed. Once mounted it tows with the same cushioned, articulating head and chucking-free ride as the puck versions.
